Soft Skills to Supply Chain Resilience

The Importance of Soft Skills to Supply Chain Resilience

Communication and collaboration are just two examples of what many consider “soft skills.” These skills—which also include emotional intelligence, problem-solving, critical thinking, adaptability, time management, and leadership—are often overlooked by organizations.

This is largely because modern management tends to focus on measurable results, operating under the belief that “we can’t manage what we can’t measure.”

However, communication issues between suppliers and customers persist. A survey earlier this year from HICX, a provider of supplier experience platforms, revealed that communication remains a major challenge. Currently, 59% of suppliers struggle to perform at their best for major customers, a slight improvement from 61% in the previous (2021) study.

This marginal progress is concerning, especially when supply chain resilience is so vital to business success in today’s economy.
